An Artistic Approach to Construction

Suermann Contracting was started in 2005 by Tommy Suermann. Tommy started in construction at a very young age, helping with his Dad’s contracting business, learning framing, plumbing, and electric. It wasn’t long before he was diagnosing problems and coming up with more efficient ways to do certain tasks. At 19 he started his first LLC and began freelancing for several contractors. By 2007, he was running his own remodeling jobs. A few years later, the company began overseeing building maintenance for several Loft buildings in St. Louis, along with home remodeling projects. The company also partnered with a developer for several years, converting historic St. Louis buildings into residential Lofts.

Working on high-end properties and historic buildings piqued Tommy’s interest in interior design and inspired his eye for detail. After many years of running his own construction and maintenance company, he started noticing a lot of issues in this industry. In order to efficiently get a structurally sound building, with the finish detail of an artist, Tommy recognized that a different approach to construction was needed. He began to implement systems and processes aimed to improve every phase of construction for the clients, and saw what an overwhelming difference it made over the course of each project. His passion for design, architecture, continuous improvement, and championing our clients are the core values that continue to drive our company today.

Tommy Suermann

Owner, Founder
Tommy started Suermann Contracting in 2005 after years of experience working with his father’s contracting business. His skill, experience, and vision drive our core values and company mission: to approach construction with the eye of an artist, complete projects with the utmost integrity, and educate others in the industry.

Erin Suermann

Owner, President

Erin is the genius behind our IT, Accounting, and other in-office systems, lending us her brilliance gleaned as head Administrator for the #1 plastic surgeon in the country, Dr. Nayak. Our tech and systems work because of Erin’s expertise, skill, and guidance.

Chris Doering

Director of Field Operations, Project Manager

Chris is Tommy’s Right-Hand Man. He joined Suermann Contracting in 2016 after attending college for Business and Construction Management and Civil Engineering, and running his own company for 10 years. He now leads and manages the field team, enabling smooth progress, transitions, and customer happiness on our many construction projects.

David Poor

Project Manager

With 20 years of construction industry experience, David is an integral part of the leadership team and works closely with Tommy and Chris, guiding our construction team during projects. He joined Suermann Contracting in 2018, bringing in experience from both the retail and construction sides of the industry.

Sam Sherwood

Director of Marketing & Operations

Sam joined the team in early 2022, bringing in her education and knowledge as a previous business owner and marketing professional for a media company. She wears several hats and helps with in-house operations, systems, and marketing projects.
